If electronic music is what gets you going, you surely know of Umek, Valentino Kanzyani and other Slovenian DJs, who’ve put Slovenia on the map of electronic music. In spite of their massive influence and irrefutable legacy, the Slovenian electronic scene is bursting with fresh talents and new generations are taking their sound far beyond techno.

Alex Cvetkov comes from the small coastal town of Koper, which lies close to Trieste and Venice, and is one of the youngest ambassadors of “the new Slovenian sound”. His dad Rok Cvetkov is a well known stuntman and Alex took after him quite early. At the tender age of two and a half, he performed his first stunt and later made his name by jumping over 11 people on his bike at six, which earned him a title of a Guinness world record holder. But Alex says: “That’s the past. I still like bikes of all kinds and I do like sports but it’s music that occupies most of my life now.” And boy, has he been busy!

In 2010, he landed a residency at Fetch the Vibe events held at the Ambasada Gavioli club, which made him the youngest resident at one of the most iconic and renowned clubs in Europe. He has released tracks on labels such as Cr2, BluFin, Go Deeva Records and others and performed alongside music’s biggest names like Tiësto, Calvin Harris, Paul Kalkbrenner, Paul van Dyk, Fatboy Slim, Chris Liebing, Mauro Picotto, David Morales and others. In 2012, he was a part of the Amsterdam Dance event where he played with Butch, Ron Caroll, Tom Novy, Gramophondzie and others.

Recently, he teamed up with drummer Roman Ratej and bass player Cveto Polak to form an outstanding live act and together the trio offers something new to the Slovenian audience. There’s no rest for the weary and young blood never runs out of energy anyway, so Alex has no problem reaching new heights every day. He has been busy in his studio producing, so try not to blink or there’s a chance you’ll miss the next big thing he’s working on. With his talent, passion and dedication, it seems that his only limit is the sky.
